The management committee of the Hamilton Downs Youth camp has for some years been working on a project to develop an activities workbook to align with the education curriculum.

It is timely that the culmination of this work book coincides with the introduction of the Australian based curriculum commencing this year.

As educators will note the amount of work based on practical teaching contained in this workbook is extensive and has tested the experience and knowledge of a number of the caretaker staff with an educational career background who put many hours and days into the development.

The Hamilton Downs Youth Camp management committee is warmly appreciative of this work and it is our hope that teachers and students from around Australia will be able to make good use of the class room activities and then put these lessons into a practical demonstration during a camp visit.

HDYC offers a terrific place for students to live in the bush, albeit with most of the modern comforts of a rural retreat and to be able to see, feel and absorb the tenor of the bush, the historic buildings and both Aboriginal and European history and culture.

Teachers and schools are invited to download extracts of this handbook for assessment with bound hard copies available by contacting the camp caretakers.
